Description
Fonmon Castle, built in the 13th century, is set within beautiful woods and gardens. Unique in the Vale of Glamorgan, it has only changed hands once. In 1656, during the English Civil War, it was bought by Colonel Philip Jones, a direct ancestor of Sir Brooke Boothby, the present owner. In the 1750s the renowned Library was created with beautiful Rococo plasterwork by Thomas Stocking. Since then the castle has been left largely unaltered.

Just 5 miles from Barry and 12 miles from Cardiff, Fonmon Castle is an ideal destination for a refreshing visit, with good accessibility to most areas; visitors can enjoy tours of the Castle, with its fine paintings, books and porcelain; then a stroll round the walled flower gardens and peaceful lawns.

Fonmon Castle is available throughout the year for a wide variety of events, both outside in the extensive gardens and inside where its wealth of history and stunning Georgian interiors provide the perfect venue for weddings, corporate entertainment and family celebrations of every kind.
