Description
A visit to Merriments is an experience not to be missed. The garden created over the last 10 years is rapidly becoming one of the most popular in the South-East of England. In the garden they offer the visitor 4 acres of densely planted borders where the plants grown in the nursery can be seen in a garden context with a depth of imagination which is truly remarkable.

Visitors can explore for themselves this artistic wilderness that will take them through the colour spectrum, explore for themselves the textural and tactile element so often forgotten in gardens, and enables them to see deeply into their endlessly imaginative planting schemes. And visitors can buy so many plants there! There is also the delightful Garden Café as well as an appealing gift shop.

Autumn Border

The style of planting at Merriments is very different. Colour is used with great care and precision with plants carefully selected and used with repetition within each colour scheme. But nothing is repeated! Identical plants can be seen around the garden but in different combinations and thus in no way repetitive.

The balance in each border is loaded with precision to give the viewer a complete experience which is akin to that of a well-loved painting.

New Golden Border

New schemes for the coming season include a Tropical Garden and Pond, the further development of the Bog Garden and a new Entrance Gravel Garden. The recently completed Scree Garden continues to attract wide attention.

The Nursery and Garden Shop

It is a nursery to cherish and visit again and again. They grow, show and sell many very special plants, whilst not being a specialist nursery, they consider themrselves a 'selective' nursery, only supplying plants they personally like and grow, amongst them, hardy perennials and ornamental grasses.

Annual Cleomes

Also for sale are plants you will see in the garden and rarely encounter elsewhere.

In the Garden Shop at Merriments they have a wonderful selection of beautiful and unusual gifts, glass, soaps, books, vases, candles, wicker baskets, and indoor plants.

Why face parking problems and crowds by going into the town when it is all there?
